End of 2015 beginning of 2016

Here's the end of a wonderful first semester as a sophomore! Even when it got crazy I kept working hard and never gave up. In the end I pulled off an A in every class except Western Art 1 which I got a solid B. I loved all the classes I had and I have to say I'm proud of the work I made. Now it's going to be an even better second semester. I still have an 18 credit load of classes, but it's not going to be as challenging I hope because I only have three studios and three liberal arts classes.

My book final from Character design. I got a new tablet to help me out with the drawing and my goodness it makes a huge difference. I don't know if you could tell but drawing Borislav is my favorite. I don't know what it is about designing villains, but he was my favorite to draw.

These are my finals from animal drawing. The first two are the muscle overlays for the skeletons I drew. They're supposed to be two foxes and two tigers, but the challenge was turning it around in perspective without any reference. The one below them was my three drawings outside of class used as our final. I'm ok with two of them but ran out of time to make the third one (the dog falling) look good. However, that has a very funny story about my roommate's dog trying to take a leak on a hill and realizing shortly after what a huge mistake that was. :) I couldn't stop laughing when I heard that story.
And last but not least, here's my door scene final from Animation 1. As hopefully you can tell this is Borislav trying to break down the door, possibly to Nadja's ship. I had fun with this, I just wish I had a little more time to make that heavy kick even heavier, but for the time I had when I turned it in, I"m happy it turned out ok. I know that this semester will be even better in Animation 2.

So far this semester I've already had lots of exciting events. One of them was a gallery reception for the Italy trip I took in the summer of 2015. I displayed five pieces: a mask, two water colors, an inked drawing and my wings from Halloween. Within the three weeks of the show I've sold three of the four up for sale (my wings were not, sorry). And next week will be another great week because on Saturday after my Special effects class Andres Deja will be coming to LCAD to do a book signing. I've already got his book signed from last semester, but it will be great to hear him talk about his book in a little more detail.
The classes I'm taking this semester include: Animation 2, Special Effects (also traditional), Storytelling, Visual Development, Modern and Contemporary Art, and History of Animation. I'm looking forward to another great semester this year and I'll try and post as much as I can from each of the classes.

Sophomore Year 2015

Hello everyone. This semester has sure been busy! This semester I'm taking 18 credits and a part time job which can really keep me busy.
In brief, I'm taking Character Design, Animation 1, Figure Drawing for Animators, CG Modeling, Animal Drawing, and Art History.
I've found that I am starting to really enjoy character design and animation the most because they are two of my strengths and source of enjoyment. I'm trying to build a portfolio of art based on a single story that I develop in all of my classes. My story is called "A Stitch In Time" about a scientist named Morgan who has been rejected by society for his ideas of time travel and more importantly his conceited behavior.  He decides to build a time machine to prove himself and regain his reputation which he does and becomes a great historian, however after years the machine begins to wear down and eventually cracks, sending him through a rift in time to another dimension. In this dimension there are no humans. He ends up being dragged into an ongoing airship battle under the foxy Captain Nadja to fight her arch nemesis, Borislav, but the rift Morgan created is growing and if he doesn't return home soon the two worlds might be torn apart.
It's still a work in progress. :)

Business as usual

Hello everyone! I've been a little busy the past summer. I went to Italy this summer with my school to earn my Art History 2 credit. To earn that credit, I also had to write a term paper and read a book on art history and write a page for every chapter on its content and I just turned it in on Monday. It was a three week trip and each week was in a different place. We started out in Rome, then went to Florence, Ravenna for a day and finally to Venice, my namesake. I think out of all the places we went to I loved Rome the most because at the time we hadn't been to as many galleries and it was the first week so we were all super excited. I also loved the people in Rome and we even got to see the Pope! Twice! Venice I would rate as the prettiest of places we saw because we also got Vaporetto passes to take us to the surrounding islands like Burano, Murano, Torchello, Lido, etc... If you don't know, Burano is where all the pretty colored houses are, Murano is where they make Venetian glass and Lido is where the beach is.

I have also started working downtown for my business again. I changed my location to 6th and Cleveland on the corner in front of LOCO Artisan Caffe. So far I've gotten really good responses to my new location and have had more than 10 commissions, 3 on the spot and the rest from photos.

Here are some photos from the trip and from some of the work I've done recently.

Freshman Year

Hello everyone. I have just finished my first year at LCAD and I loved it! I got all A's and one B from last semester. This summer I'm excited to say I'll be going to Italy with LCAD for my Art History credit for three weeks in Rome, Florence, and Venice so school isn't truly over yet for me.

Here's all of my work up to date. The first is my animation final- a restaurant scene. All the music and sound effects I created, so there is no copy right infringement.
Here's one of my Illustration pieces.
Here's my Maya final. It's a baby Gronckle from How to Train Your Dragon.

Illustration and Sculpture Class

Here are some pieces from my Fundamentals of Illustration class and Portrait, Figure Sculpture.
Here's my exaggerated portrait of Benedict Cumberbatch. This was done with graphite on 500 Cold-press Strathmore board.

This was a two week pose. I didn't get to finish everything I wanted to, but at the time we were still going over a few things like the back and leg muscles.

Here's the portrait I did at the beginning of the class. This one we jumped in and was over the course of three or four weeks.

Animations

Hello everyone. It's been a while. Here are a couple of my animation projects. I love this semester and the classes. I have had such an amazing time. I have a lot of art to share with you.

This is a video I did on my own time. This was my first experiment with claymation.

First Semester at College

The first semester is over! I truly love LCAD. I learned so much this semester from all my classes and made all new friends. I'm so thankful to have been accepted and to have these new learning opportunities. Here's some of my better work from my first semester at college!

1.

2.
These two still lifes are my two better ones. The first one was done in class (1) and the last one (2) was done in the dorms.

1.

2.
These were from my figure drawing class. The top one (1) was done from a photograph as part of our final while the other (2) was done in class from life.

This is my final from Digital painting. We had to create a black and white rendered image from our imagination then go over it with a cool and warm setting.
